Autumn Leaves

Gold, amber, brown and red

Float about overhead.

Like a gymnast they do flips.

As they make their final trips.

Falling lightly to the ground

Twirling, swirling all around

Autumn has arrived!

 

Math: Hundreds...Thousands...Millions...Billions.....That's right completing our unit in Place Value!! Please encourage your child to review their basic addition/subtraction facts nightly!   

Language Arts:

      What do good readers do as they read? They use reading strategies. We are going to learn all about helpful reading strategies that will enable your child to become a stronger and more successful reader, which include CONNECTING, PICTURING, WONDERING, PREDICTING, NOTICING, and FIGURING OUT. For success, please encourage your child to read and state the main idea, recall facts and details, sequence events, summarize the story, recognize cause and effect relationships, compare and contrast information, make predictions, find word meaning in context, draw conclusions, make inferences, distinguish between fact and opinion, identify the author's purpose, interpret figurative language, and make connections. READ! READ! READ!

      Students will also practice their grammar skills and learning all about sentence structure, while maintaining their spelling skills.

Social Studies:   Communities....We will learn about our community! Ask your child to share with you what kind of community they live in! We are beginning to explore maps and globes this week!!

    

Science:

     

    First things first................Let's discuss science and technology in society! It is

  important for our students to realize how science and technology affect our daily lives!! Ask your child to explain it to you!! We will beign with an exciting Habitat unit. Ask your child to share with you their favorite habitat!!

*There is no school on Monday, October 13th (Columbus Day).

*PTO Fundraiser is due on Friday, October, 10th

*Picture re-takes will be on Wednesday, October 16th.

Wernery's Workers Reminders:

*Please encourage your child to READ NIGHTLY to expand his/her vocabulary and reading comprehension. Each child is encouraged to read for at least 15 minutes.

*Please remind your child to make responsible choices in school and to complete all homework assignments.

*Please remember to check and sign your child’s assignment notebook

 nightly and promote good study habits.

 

*We also need tissues for all of our runny noses and hand sanitizer to keep the germs away!
